Alger Learning Center: Free Range Education

The Alger Learning Center & Independence High School is a Washington State approved and nationally accredited independent school, serving students in grades K-12, as well as adult learners.

Our student-centered philosophy focuses on individualizing education, to create a unique learning experience for each student.

Our programs are specifically designed to serve a wide variety of young people who may have widely varying reasons for seeking options for their education and lives.

Students and their parents work with our staff to design classes that reflect the student’s interests, goals, and learning styles. They are allowed, to the greatest degree possible, to determine what they want to learn, how they will learn it, and at what pace.

Unlike many schools, we have chosen not to be obsessed with the unethical practice of teaching to the test.
